Pathways to a Resilient Community Conference / Mental Health Week

conference — 8.5.2022 15:00

Mental health and resilience in the face of adverse events are underpinned beyond individual capacities and resources by the way in which the community as a whole holds and can mobilise resources in support of its members when the situation demands it.
A resilient and resource-rich community, however, is built gradually, with each moment that its members have the opportunity to come together, strengthen ties, build something together or work towards a common goal. Often, community drivers, i.e. groups or individuals, emerge in communities and become drivers for cultivating or mobilising community resources.
Whether we are talking about cooking together for the homeless or providing a space for young people to do their homework after school, actions that support the well-being and development of community members contribute to the broader community’s capacity to resist and recover from adverse experiences.
At the conference we will have the chance to meet face-to-face with these individuals, drivers of action and promoters of a resilient community.
