About the book:
The Cannibal Generation. The book of maturity
The '90s. Communist regimes fall across the Eastern Bloc, the USSR dissolves and the wild dingo children go off in all directions full of hope, enthusiasm and a mad lust for life. Some go to study for the first time in their “new homeland”, Romania, others stay in the newly-established Republic of Moldova, while others clandestinely flee to the “new paradise” “out there” in the West. Young students from Bessarabia, the last children of the Empire, come to their new homeland and discover a world completely different from their own. Romanians and Bessarabians seem like two distinct tribes speaking the same language but with different meanings and practicing different rituals. Over them all, however, comes a new world, with a host of temptations, bringing them everything they lacked - unlimited freedom and countless commodities - and they have chosen: Always Coca-Cola. The new age offers them even more: besides freedom and hope, it brings inflation, unemployment, deindustrialization. The shift is from production to commerce, no one wants to be - everyone wants to have. Society becomes a veritable carnival and commerce on the tombs of the old world: from the communist era straight into the western era of our wild east. And out of all this whirlwind a new generation is born: the cannibal generation.
