Mazel Tov, the klezmer ensemble of the Jewish Community of Cluj, was founded in February 2002 at the initiative and under the direction of Professor Vasile Socea. The group’s aim is to share with audiences the beauty of Jewish music—particularly klezmer, a genre deeply rooted in this region. Its rich and diverse repertoire includes not only klezmer pieces and songs in Yiddish, but also melodies in Ladino and Hebrew.
In addition to performing regularly at events celebrating Jewish holidays, Mazel Tov has over the years gained recognition at major interethnic festivals both in Romania and abroad, including those in Odessa, Belgrade, Vilnius, and Riga.
